September 12, 2011: Cyber hackers or cyber attackers have always been a big headache for every one. At present it is the Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector, especially in the offshore finding it quite difficult to tackle these hackers.

Global clients exclusively depend on the offshore market for business solutions. India is the top offshore market with world’s most popular IT companies such as Infosys, Wipro and TCS along with many small players. The key issue which almost every firm in the offshore is concerned is the data security. Crucial data and information about the clients has been flown out to unauthorized sources in the past few years from the offshore market particularly India. At present, what we require according to Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) is a strong security system to overcome this miserable mishap which is slowly degrading the trust of global clients towards the offshore sector.

There are end number of global clients basically from the US and UK who depend on the offshore market for business solutions and business services. Most of the clients which Indian firms deals with are from and banking and Insurance sector and thus disclosure of key information such as account number details and insurance policy numbers are required by the clients to the vendors. Many clients are finding it quite difficult to disclose the information. The recent fraudulence and identity theft happening in the offshore market has made the clients more conscious. Clients prefer twice discussions before data and information disclosure even in cloud computing. In the present scenario where experts believe that cloud computing is going to be the future scope of IT and BPO service providers, clients becoming more concern about disclosure of data and information is a blow for many vendors. Apart from banking and insurance there are also many other segments which exclusively depends on offshore service providers or vendors.

Thus vendors are becoming more concern about fighting against this threat, disturbing the smooth operations in the sector. Security audits are given higher preference and many innovative steps are taken to overcome the mishap. Information service providers are encouraging Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) so that the number of fraudulence happening in the sector should be minimized. Firms have realized the requirement of maintaining a secure system to manage data and information, especially on the personal details of the clients. Big players in the offshore market even looking forward to hunt huge number of information security auditors to abolish the deadly cancer named identity theft in the Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) offshore vendors.
